The headline price is rarely the useful number. For an international surgery trip, the decision comes down to what the written quote includes, what it excludes, and what happens if your plan changes after an in-person exam.
Start with an itemized procedure plan
Ask every provider to name the procedures being quoted rather than using only the umbrella phrase “mommy makeover.” A combination may include a tummy tuck, breast lift or augmentation, liposuction, or another procedure, and the final plan should be determined by the surgeon after evaluation.
When two quotes use different procedure combinations, they are not directly comparable even if both are labeled “mommy makeover.”
Separate medical charges from trip charges
- surgeon and assistant fees
- facility or operating-room fees
- anesthesia
- implants or garments, if applicable
- pre-op testing and follow-up visits
- medications
- lodging, local transport, meals, and companion costs
- change fees or extra nights if travel plans move
Keeping these buckets separate makes it easier to compare a Colombia quote with a quote at home.
Ask what happens if the plan changes
A responsible quote should explain what happens if the in-person examination changes the surgical plan, if a procedure is postponed, or if additional follow-up is needed. Ask about deposit rules, refund terms, rescheduling, and who pays for unplanned lodging or care.
Compare the total trip, not a discount percentage
Airfare, time away from work, a companion, recovery lodging, and follow-up can materially change the total. Build a trip budget beside the medical quote and compare the two together.
Keep the quote in writing
Before paying a deposit, keep a dated copy of the proposed procedure list, provider names, facility, included services, exclusions, payment schedule, and cancellation terms. If any of those details are verbal only, ask for them in writing.

Request a QuoteFrequently Asked Questions
Does a lower quote mean the care is lower quality?
Price alone does not establish quality. Compare provider credentials, facility registration, the proposed procedure plan, follow-up, and written terms alongside cost.
Should I pay a deposit before I know the surgeon and facility?
You should know who is expected to perform the procedure, where it is planned, what the deposit covers, and the cancellation or change terms before sending money.
